Join us for a participatory gathering to explore climate emotions by reading and creating together
WHEN: February 1st, 2024, 4:30-6pm
WHERE: Woodhaven EcoCulture Centre, 969 Raymer Rd. Kelowna, BC.
WHAT: FEELed Lab researcher Grace Henri is offering a space of collaboration and discussion around environmental grief, changing seasons, and finding commonalities within our unique experiences with climate change. A facilitated creative exercise will help participants to identify, name and explore their emotions associated with the climate crisis and the environmental changes we see around us.
The event will open by reading selected environmental poems related to grief, climate change, and our social/physical/spiritual relationship with the earth (poems will be provided on site. If you have a favourite poem you would like to share, please bring it with you). We will use this as a jumping-off point for discussion, sharing, and making connections within our own experiences with climate change and grief. This will be followed by a facilitated “found poetry” making exercise. Participants may choose to share their work, as their thoughts on the process, with the group. Participants may also simply create, be present, and listen.
Writing and reading supplies will be provided. Participants are welcome to spread out, leave for fresh air, or bring additional supplies to keep your hands busy if this helps you stay present, and grounded.
WHAT TO BRING: a poem about climate + emotions (if you like)
WE WILL SUPPLY: poems to read out loud, creating + making supplies, snacks and hot drinks, and a convivial atmosphere!
HOW TO GET HERE: Directions and instructions for parking can be found here.
