How will you arrive?

VENUE

F E E L e r s will take place at Naramata Centre, in Naramata, about a one hour drive south of Kelowna, on syilx territory, in the Southern Interior region of BC. The Centre has a variety of rooms and outdoor spaces that we can use for all kinds of activities.

Within a 5 minute walk of Naramata Centre you will find:

  • Grocery store (with pharmacy items and liquor store)
  • Coffee Shop
  • Naramata Public Library
  • Beach/lake access
  • Bus stop (several buses daily to Penticton)

The Kettle Valley Railtrail – a cycling/walking route that travels through the Okanagan – is a 6 minute drive (45 minute walk) away. You can cycle days in either direction!

Naramata is located on the unceded territory of the syilx Okanagan nation. The nsyilxcən placename for Naramata is citxʷs paqəlqyn, meaning the House of the Bald Eagle. Naramata is known for its fresh produce (although June is very early in the growing season), and its small wineries.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

A range of private and shared accommodations are available. The full duration of camp is 6 nights. All accommodation types have private or semi-private bathrooms and kitchen facilities (including refrigerator). Please indicate your preferred accommodation on your application. All prices are in Canadian dollars, and do not include tax. Rooms need to be paid for 1 week in advance of arrival.

COST:

Participants will be responsible for the following costs:

  • Travel to/from Naramata Centre (some car pooling and shuttles from Kelowna and Penticton will be available)
  • Accommodation costs
  • Program costs ($0 – $400 no-questions-asked sliding scale, depending on your capacity to contribute to program costs and materials, including subsidizing costs for others)
  • Supplemental breakfast and lunch items
  • Costs for pod-based or individual activities (e.g. paddle boarding or bike rental) that are not covered by the program

F E E L e r s will cover costs of

  • breakfast hampers (to be prepared using kitchen facilities); lunch hampers and/or packed lunches; 6 dinners.
  • highly subsidized venue and program costs and program materials
  • camp field trip

TRAVEL TO NARAMATA CENTRE:

The nearest international airport is in Kelowna. A shuttle / carpooling options will be available on Monday June 2 / Sunday June 8 from and to Kelowna International Airport. It is possible to travel by bus (BC transit) but note the bus between Naramata and Penticton travels 4x / day. For those arriving by car, there is ample free parking at the Centre.
