Co-convened with FEELed Lab Visiting Researcher Susanne Pratt (UTS, Australia), this retreat is designed for educators, researchers, artists and/or community members who need to get something done. It is dedicated space and time to work on a project that needs tending to. This might be a book, a thesis, a journal article, artwork or lesson plans… We are calling this “deep writing,” but it could just as easily be deep reading, deep making, deep planning or other kind of deep doing! We will body-double together to tend to what needs tending.

Spaces are limited. We are inviting people who can commit to attending for the full time, and are able to pause email notifications, app pings, zoom calls, and busy work, to do deep work. (If this is not possible this time, don’t fret! We will do it again another time!)

Date: Monday 25 May – Thursday 28 May, 2026
Time: 10 am – 4 pm. Optional to join from 9am if you would like to ease into the morning together with some movement exercises and a cup of coffee or tea.
Where: Woodhaven Ecocultural Centre (Remember: Woodhaven is like Narnia: it is a magical place, but you need to know the secret directions of how to get here! Google Maps will send you astray!)
What: The focus is your project(s), with space and time to tend to this. We will also offer a variety of light workshop activities, and making-and-doing materials in support of project work – this will be emergent, based on who attends. We anticipate some sharing of work and gentle feedback (for those that wish to), and time outside together, to soak in inspiration from walking/moving/resting together on unceded Syilx territory at the FEELed Lab.
What to bring: Yourself! Your project! Any tools you may need to do your work. Some activities may be indoors, and some may be outdoors, so please dress accordingly. Please bring lunch and a water bottle. Coffee, tea and light snacks will be provided.

*We will begin reviewing EOI’s on 1 May, and will continue until all spots are filled. If we receive more EOIs than we can accommodate, participants who express alignment with retreat goals will be selected in order of submission, and by lottery if needed!
A Reminder: All FEELed Lab events strive to be feminist, anticolonial, antiracist, queer and accessible spaces. However, our workspace (including kitchen and toilet) is currently located on the second floor of the building, with no lift-access. If you would like to attend this retreat but this is inaccessible to you, please let us know so we can arrange things differently.
