BWC Starting up again on February 4th for interested middle and high school students
The Better World Club is back! We are a group of middle and high school students passionate about taking action for the environment and the biodiversity crisis in the Okanagan. We have done a lot of awesome planting and public awareness work in the Okanagan, and our students made this zine about our ideas and knowledge that we want to share with you all.
We are so excited and grateful to be back at the FEELed lab every Tuesday for our after school program, and our first session of 2025 will kick off on Tuesday February 4th from 3:45 – 5:45 pm. During the month of February we will be focusing on doing art projects (making tee shirts, stickers and other creative pursuits) that get our messaging about the importance of biodiversity out to the public.
Once the weather is warm enough, we have many planting projects lined up for the Spring! We will be sending regular call outs for volunteers who would like to attend and participate. We will send these out as they come up, but if you have further questions about planting dates please reach out to team@betterworldclub.ca.

If you have questions or a student who is interested in joining this club please reach out to team@betterworldclub.ca. If getting to the location is difficult we can help organize carpools and ride shares.
Finally, we have been making the most of the cold weather by propagating native seeds! Most native seeds in the Okanagan need to cold stratify- meaning they have to undergo very cold weather as seeds so they learn to grow deep roots and when to go dormant once they start growing. These cold snaps are really important for native plants in the Okanagan, even if they want to make us humans stay inside and hibernate a bit more.
We are looking forward to a great start to 2025, and are excited to see where our plans and projects take us! We’re so grateful to be part of the FEELed Lab community and the students can’t wait to get back into this “cozy and creative” space!
