Re-emerging for the Spring

As the plants begin to re emerge for the spring, so do people who care for them. The first Plant People Gathering of 2026 kicked off at the FEELed lab in March 20th. Old and new friends gathered to visit, share food and do some land care work. Many spots in the ground were prepped for the planting of native seeds that would take place March 27th at the 5 year anniversary of the FEELed lab. The work done at this gathering was the less glamorous side of planting: ripping up tarp, hauling rocks, raking away weeds and disposing of them with care.

However, one goal of these gatherings is to continuously find ways to care for and be in good relationship with the land at all its stages. This praxis helps us all better unpack and understand the importance of honoring, showing up to and centering Syilx-led stewardship of these lands and waters. All of us have a role to play in caring for this place, and we continue to build relationship with each other, the land, and Syilx led work and teachings to find ways to enact reciprocal care for all living things.

Plant people gatherings happen monthly (mostly!) with opportunities to help with important land care work popping up sporadically. If you’d like to be connected to this network, reach out to lammi665@gmail.com.
