A hands-on Workshop Series to build Community while building Research-adjacent Skills

At the FEELed Lab, we know that “research skills” are not just technical tools: they are about building ethical, engaged relationships with our research milieu (places, people, plants, critters, things, archives, assemblages…). Skilling up in community also provides important support, camaraderie, and inspiration for the important work that we do.

That’s why for the academic year 2026/27, we are partnering up with the Institute for Community Engaged Research, Storying Otherwise Hub and the UBC Centre for Climate Justice to offer a new “skills-building” workshop series. All of us are committed to research that is world-building and wording-changing!

We will host 3 workshops per semester lead by researchers from each of our teams. Workshops will be hosted either at the FEELed Lab (Woodhaven Eco-Culture Center) or at ICER (UBCO Campus). They are targeted towards grad students and interested faculty, but open for anyone!

Upcoming Workshops (with links and more details, as they emerge):

SEPTEMBER: Writing as a Practice of Being in Love with the World (Astrida Neimanis, FEELed Lab)

OCTOBER: Creative Co-writing with Community (Storying Otherwise Hub)
