As we welcome new people to the FEELed Lab, we want to make space for longer introductions to project team members and research affiliates joining us this year. This profile is on Dr. Xiaohua (Adam) Wei, who is joining us as a research affiliate on our new project “Untapping Watershed Relations: Water in Woodhaven”.
- Can you tell us about your work/research?
My main research mainly focuses on the interactions between forest changes (disturbance, reforestation) and hydrology.
2. Why did you want to work with the FEELed Lab?
I like an interdisciplinary approach for collaborative research. I always believe water is an ecosystem connector or linkage, connecting with various ecological processes and social-economic dimensions. To manage and protect water, an integrated approach is critically needed.
3. Why are expansive engagements with environmental issues important?
All environmental issues are not only about environment, they are also critically related to long-term social and economic well-being. Expansive engagements can allow better understanding and management of these relations.
4. What are you most excited about regarding our water in woodhaven project?
I would be very keen to learn about water and watershed management from a different perspective (social science).
